About Natasha

Natasha Kyssa is the author of The SimplyRaw Living Foods Detox Manual, as well as the founder of SimplyRaw. She has been living a raw vegan lifestyle for nearly 20 years, and has been facilitating detoxification and cleansing programs since 1993, working with clients from all over the world.

Raised by two very traditional European parents, Natasha grew up on a natural, unrefined diet. She learned about the benefits of wholesome foods from her Austrian mother who ran The Pantry, a vegetarian tea room in Ottawa, Canada. In her mid twenties, Natasha’s career as an international model was launched, propelling her to lead a fast paced, jet-setting lifestyle, globe trotting to exotic countries around the world for over seven years. Travelling between Canada, Japan, Hong Kong, South East Asia, and Europe on a ongoing basis, the glamorous fashion scene soon took its toll, and Natasha became consumed by the constant pressure of maintaining a slender, model physique. She soon developed a debilitating eating disorder that she secretly struggled with for eight years, and was at one point hospitalized. Suffering from anorexia and bulimia, the effects were crippling, both physically and psychologically, and she was lost in a downward cycle of destructive eating and lifestyle habits.

It was at this low period that Natasha began searching for various lifestyles and alternative methods to help with her sporadic eating habits – as mainstream medicine failed to help with her illness, prescribing anti-depressants instead. She discovered the writings of Paavo Airola, Victoras Kulvinskas and Dr. Ann Wigmore, whose books taught her the fundamentals of the living foods lifestyle and how to maintain a healthy lifestyle with the right balance for optimal nutrition. She also discovered meditation and running, both which she began to practice daily. The raw lifestyle and an active life completely transformed and saved her life.

Natasha has since continued to refine this balance to improve her well-being, studying at various Institutes including the Ann Wigmore Institute (countless times), the Hippocrates Health Institute, the Living Light Culinary Arts Institute, as well as other well-known organizations around the world. She has also studied darkfield live cell microscopy and has counselled many clients on the Arise & Shine Clean Me Out Colon Cleanse, and other detoxification programs after studying with Dr. Richard Anderson in 1995.

Natasha is committed to integrating healthy principles into mainstream lifestyles, and is passionate about inspiring others to make changes that will enrich their lives. She believes that we can heal ourselves naturally to mend the damage done to our bodies due to unhealthy environment and improper food choices, and enjoys helping people experience increased health. She also enjoys observing the many transformations that the living foods lifestyle continues to bring to people’s lives.

At 49 years of age, Natasha leads a healthy, active lifestyle (despite having chronic pain due to a sports injury), and trains daily (rock climbing, long distance running, hiking, skiing, snowshoeing, yoga and cycling). She lives in Ottawa with her husband Mark and son, Mischa.

Natasha is pleased to be able to share her experiences and knowledge, and is available world-wide for One-on-One phone consultations.
